The Slammer is a CBBC children's television series broadcasted on BBC One.
The show is set in a fictional prison in which various acts have to perform to an audience of children in order to be released. The show usually starts with 5-10 minutes of story which normally relates to one or two of the performers (usually to do with Peter or Melvin). After this, the performances begins. In between each performance, the Governor played by Ted Robbins and a security guard Mr Burgess (Ian Kirkby) would ask a few children on their thoughts. The main characters are Puppeteer Peter Nokio (Dave Chapman), Melvin Odoom, The Governor, Mr Burgess and Jeremy Gimbert (Lee Barnett).
The show was produced by Steve Ryde, who also produced CBBC's Dick and Dom in da Bungalow and Harry Batt. It was based on an item from Dick and Dom called 'The Strangely Talented': a game in which contestants performed their specialized acts infront of the Bungalowheads to try and win the title of Strangely Talented Champion.
The supporting cast of the childrens programme Dick and Dom in da Bungalow appear in The Slammer including: Lee Barnett, Dave Chapman, Ian Kirkby and Melvin Odoom.
