[edit] Story

Space aliens have challenged the citizens of Springfield to a wrestling match, but first the Springfieldians must battle each other to determine who will go on to save the town by wrestling the large green alien invaders.

[edit] Gameplay

Simpsons characters are animated using a blend of 3D and traditional animation, as are the various unique moves and locales that appear as the wrestlers battle it out.

Each wrestler has only four moves (five if you include jumping and bouncing on the opponent's head for minimal damage). There is also a fairly useful running attack, but players will primarily be using each character's three special moves.

During matches, wrestlers have an energy meter that drains as they perform special moves, and gradually refills when they are not attacking. Different moves use up different amounts of energy, and certain characters can win any match by repeatedly using a particularly damaging move that does not require much energy.

Letters will float around the ring. If a wrestler collects enough of them, he can taunt and temporarily become invincible. Just like in wrestling, a match ends when one wrestler pins his opponent for a three count.

[edit] Characters

There are 16 Simpsons characters in the game, all of whom are voiced by the same actors that provide their voices in the cartoon.

[edit] Reaction

The Simpsons Wrestling was panned by critics and fans. The game was criticized for having simplistic, unbalanced gameplay and having bad graphics. It also disgusted wrestling fans due to the lack of moves in the game. Because of this, The Simpsons Wrestling is considered by many to be the worst Simpsons game ever and one of the worst games ever. [1]

[edit] Trivia

  • The Simpsons Wrestling was the second 3D Simpsons game, the first being The Simpsons Bowling for the arcade. The Simpsons Wrestling was also the first console 3D Simpsons game.
  • In the game, Smithers and Burns only fight in Mr. Burns' mansion. This fact is in the game because Mr. Burns appear in other several arenas. Also, they both appear together in the Downtown arena.
  • Ned Flanders is the best character in the game, since he can fight twice in a round (once the opponent pins him one time, Ned is highlighted and his health is full, but when the opponent pins him again, Ned loses the round,) and because of his lightning attack that does a lot of damage to the opponent.
