The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya[1] (涼宮ハルヒの溜息 Suzumiya Haruhi no Tameiki?) is the second of eight volumes in the Haruhi Suzumiya series written by Japanese author Nagaru Tanigawa and illustrated by Japanese artist Noizi Ito. It was first published on September 30, 2003 (ISBN 4-04-429202-7).

In this novel, the story follows the SOS Brigade's first movie making project, starring Asahina Mikuru as the main protagonist. Additionally, Nagato is made Mikuru's rivalry nemesis in the movie and Koizumi is the conflict hero, who is supposed to end happily ever after with Mikuru, but is also in some affair with Nagato.
As the first chapter begins Kyon doesn't expect anything special from the day, but that is when Haruhi rushes with the idea that the SOS Brigade needs to do something interesting for the cultural festival. As a result, all of the Brigade members end up leaving their class projects to do the movie with Haruhi. In this chapter Kyon is in charge of all of the paperwork, duties and cast requests; due to Haruhi's demand, he knew he would have a painful experience. Chapter two shows all of the brigade members at the start of the movie production. Some of Haruhi's powers mysteriously show without her knowing it by the end of the chapter.
