[edit] Voice-Over Introduction

[edit] Part One

Leonardo: There are times in your life when you draw on everything you have. Times when you reach down into the deepest part of yourself. When you know you gotta give it your all, because anything less won't get the job done. It's in times like these that you find out who you really are. That is, if you live long enough.

[edit] Part Two

Splinter: The worst has come to pass. My son Leonardo was out on a training exercise when he was ambushed and chased across the city by the dark forces of the Foot. He was returned to us broken and battered, only to deliver a terrible message.

Leonardo: He's back...the Shredder.

Splinter: I had foolishly thought the worst had come to pass, but now I fear it is yet to come.

[edit] Plot Synopsis

After the Shredder throws Leonardo through a second-floor window in April's apartment, he lies unconscious while his brothers and Master Splinter protect and fight against waves of Foot Ninja, and April tries to get him to safety. Eventually they get driven downstairs to April's antique shop. Eventually, the Shredder shows up. Given the fact that they are in no shape to fight him, April, Splinter, and the Turtles hide out in a back room. The Shredder then uses his spiked glove to cut open a gas pipe. Before leaving, he jams the door behind which the protagonists are hiding in, and throws a lit match at the leaking pipe, causing a huge explosion.

This was one of the major cliffhanger endings in the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. The conclusion to this episode, Tales of Leo, aired three months later.

[edit] Quotes

  • Michelangelo (cooking breakfast when the yolks in the pan broke; he begins to stir up the eggs) Scrambled's okay with everybody, right?
Everyone (Donatello, Raphael, Splinter, and April): Again?!
  • Donatello (sniffs the air): Does anyone smell gas?
    Raphael: Mikey!
Donatello: No! Not that kind of gas.
Michelangelo (tries to open the door): Hey, this door is getting kinda hot. (shoves against it) It won't budge! It's jammed!
Casey Jones: Gas plus flame equals... Let's book! Now!
Raphael: (works with Mikey to try to open the door) We gotta get out of here!

[edit] Miscellanea

  • Leonardo loses his katanas in this episode.
  • First appearance of the Foot Elite.
  • Second Major Battle with the Shredder.
  • April's antique shop is destroyed in this two-parter.
