The Seer is the third studio album by Scottish band Big Country, released in 1986. (see 1986 in music). This album was set with very traditional Scottish musical settings, reminiscent of The Crossing back in 1983, with the music being also more of a bold setting as compared to that of The Crossing and Steeltown. Kate Bush worked on the title song in a beautiful duet with lead singer and lyricist Stuart Adamson. This albums main Single of Look Away was for Big Country their biggest Hit in the UK, with it reaching no 7 on the UK Bilboard Charts. The album cover was set in a semi computer graphic design of the 1950s, when Steeltown had a cover that was designed after the Propaganda in Europe at the time in dealing with Labour and Industry in the 1940s during the Second World War.

The track of "The Red Fox" was based on Kidnappped by Robert Louis Stevenson, and the so called Appin Murder of one Colin Campbel, who was a Tory who was hated by many in Scotland around 1752.
