The Seeds of Love is the third album by the band Tears for Fears, released in 1989.

[edit] History

The album reportedly cost over £1 million (UKP) to produce. It retained the band's epic sound while showing increasing influences ranging from jazz and blues to the Beatles, the last of which is extremely evident in the hit single "Sowing the Seeds of Love". Another single was "Woman in Chains," on which Phil Collins played drums and Oleta Adams — whom Tears for Fears member Roland Orzabal would guide to a successful solo career — shared vocals.

A 64 page companion book for the album, entitled "Tears For Fears - The Seeds of Love", was released in 1990 by Virgin Books and offers insight into the writing and recording process behind the album.

The album was remastered and reissued in 1999 with four bonus tracks, which were originally B-sides to the album's singles.
