Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Alphonse and Marta are shocked to discover that Kimbley is back in the military. Edward confronts Scar in Lior when their battle is interrupted by Lust and Gluttony. Scar has a locket containing hair of the woman Lust was transmuted from, and he is able to drive Lust and Gluttony off with it. Scar explains to Ed, Rosé and Lyra that the woman was his brother's lover, and her death led to his brother's heresy--studying alchemy. Scar's brother attempted to save Ishbal with alchemy but instead, the near-genocide of the Ishbalans was used in the creation of the incomplete Philosopher's Stone that now resides in Scar's arm. The arm was given to Scar by his brother after Kimbley scarred his face and exploded his arm. Lyra reveals to Ed that Scar is planning to sacrifice the invading military forces, not the citizens of Lior, in his attempt to create a true Philosopher's Stone. The Führer arrives and orders Kimbley into Lior to provoke the war. Marta overhears, and discovers that the Führer is a Homunculus, with a tattoo of Ouroboros on his left eye which was concealed by an eye patch. By process of elimination, he must be Pride. Marta is discovered and tries to escape, hiding inside Al's armor, but Pride knows where she is (thanks to his Ultimate Eye), and kills Marta with a sword while she's still inside Al's armor.

[edit] Trivia

  • When Lyra explains Scar's plan to Ed, Lt. Maria Ross and Sgt. Denny Bloch can be seen in the crowd of soldiers who might be sacrificed for the Stone.
