The Russian Debutante's Handbook was the debut novel by author Gary Shteyngart, published in 2003. It follows the exploits of young Russians both in the Alphabet City neighborhood of Manhattan and the fictitious European city of Prava. The novel was received to much acclaim.

The novel follows the life of Vladimir Girshkin, a Russian immigrant whose family has moved from communist Russia to New York city when he was a boy. The novel starts with Vladimir working at the Emma Lazarus Immigrant Absorption society, where he meets Aleksander Rybakov, a deranged former Soviet Navy officer who wants Vladimir to assist him in receiving American Citizenship.
