[edit] Plot

After fleeing from the pressure and uncertainty of her (former) marriage to Max. We start out with Lorelai and Rory driving around aimlessly. Since they're headed towards Portsmouth, NH, Lorelai suggests that they stop at her friend Donald's B&B. When they get there, they discover that it has been purchased by a woman named LaDawn, renamed The Cheshire Cat, and decorated in an especially frilly and flowery style. ("Satanic forces are at work here/Sat and am forever at work here.") They reluctantly decide to stay.

That night, Rory tries to talk about Max, but Lorelai refuses. Rory is upset that she has disrupted all of their lives, and they have a loud fight. She finally tells Rory that she wishes she loved Max, but she doesn't.

The next day, after being forced to socialize with the other guests, they decide to visit Harvard. When they see one of the Harvard libraries, Rory freaks out that she is unprepared for college. She cheers up when they sneak into a dorm room. Also, Rory sits in on a philosophy class where she winds up participating in a discussion on Stoicism.

When they get back to Stars Hollow, Rory runs into Lane, who has returned from Korea and actually had a good time. Also, Lorelai decides that it's time to start planning to open her own inn with Sookie.
