The Ricky Gervais Show was a a comedy chat show first shown on British televison channel 4 in autumnn 2000.

The format of the programme was similar to that of a straight chat show, although there were scripted sections with actors in the audience.
Midway through the show, in a section that owed a debt to Garry Shandling, Gervais would appear backstage with Stepher Merchant who was playing his boss. Gervais would be forced to do things against his will by his 'boss' such as undress or touch him inappropriately in a manner reminiscent o f his "seedy boss" character that was on the pilot to The Office
