The Rest of the Story
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rest of the Story is a Monday-through-Saturday radio program hosted by Paul Harvey. Beginning as a part of his newscasts during the Second World War and then premiering as its own series on the ABC Radio Networks on May 10, 1976, The Rest of the Story is comprised of factual stories on a variety of subjects with a surprise or "twist" saved till the end. From its inception, the scripts for the series have been drafted and the broadcast produced by Harvey's son, Paul Harvey Jr., who also reads the stories on-air at least once a week. Harvey always concludes by saying, "And now you know…the rest of the story."
Several hoaxes have unwittingly and accidentally been propagated on The Rest of the Story, leading some to question the credibility of the broadcasts. Usually, however, the stories are verifiable or are the general historical consensus.
