The Rainforest Foundation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rainforest Foundation is an UK charity dedicated to campaigning for the preservation of the rainforest and the rights of the indigenous people living there.
The Rainforest Foundation was founded in 1989 by the musician Sting and his wife Trudie Styler; its first initiative was a campaign of support for the Kayapo Indians and their rights to their own land in the Amazonas.
The organization has later expanded its scope to the whole world's rainforests.
It supports a number of activities to garner support for its cause, including the Triple marathon.
Its 2005 "review" shows a total 2004 income of GBP 536,956 and total 2004 expenses of GBP 590,699, 71% of which went to further the charity's purposes, and 29% of which went to advertising, fundraising, publicity and administration.[1]
