The Radio Chick

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Radio Chick is the on-air name for Leslie Gold, an American radio personality whose show features comedian Chuck Nice and her producer, Butch Brennan. She is presently living with rock drummer Carmine Appice.

Over the years, the Radio Chick has been heard on several stations, including a midday slot at WNEW-FM in New York. The station subsequently switched formats from all talk to dance music, and the Chick was ousted. She was then heard on Q 104.3 in New York City, taking over morning drive but was again fired abruptly, leaving her fans to wonder where she would resurface, which turned out to be a midday show at Sirius Satellite Radio on channel 103 ('Sirius Stars'). Gold began her radio career in Boston at talk station WRKO, where she won the AIR awards for "Best Talk Show Host" in 1997 and 1998. She was renominated for a 1999 AIR award in the category of "Best Midday Show in New York".

In 2003, Gold hosted The Radio Chick on the Prowl which aired on Cablevision's MetroTV. The show focused on the dating scene and lives of single people in New York City.

In January 2006, the Chick left Sirius Satellite Radio to return to terrestrial radio in New York City on 92.3 Free FM, where she hosts the 3:00-6:00 pm show. In May 2006, her audience was expanded to include the San Francisco Bay area, on 106.9 Free FM.

As of Dec 20, 2006, The Radio Chick show timeslot on WFNY ends at 6pm (formerly 7pm), to accommodate the addition of Ron and Fez to the schedule.
