The Pop Factory

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pop Factory (TPF) is a recording studio and music venue in Porth, Rhondda, Glamorgan, South Wales. It has given its name to a Welsh TV show, known as the Welsh Top Of The Pops.

The Pop Factory is a converted soft drinks factory, formerly belonging to the "Welsh Hills" brand. It was officially opened by Tom Jones in 2000, by smashing a bottle of dandelion and burdock against its walls.

The weekly shows are broadcast by ITV. The show has been presented by Steve Jones. There is also a Welsh language show, Sesiwn Hwyr, broadcast by S4C.

Every year, TPF hosts an award ceremony, which in 2005 was focused mainly on the Welsh music scene possibly due to the absence of The Welsh Music Awards.
