[edit] History
The Poisoning. The Poisoning are a 6-piece gothic punk rock leviathan based in Glasgow Scotland (UK). With a mixture of sinister rock and roll and chilling melodies, The Poisoning take influence from Danzig, the Nerve Agents and Turbonegro amongst others. Through explosive live shows and a dangerous stage presence The Poisoning have carved out a reputation as one of Glasgow’s (UK) premier live rock bands………
After playing in various other punk bands and knowing each other from the local punk scene, original and still current members of The Poisoning got together in the autumn of 2004 to form a band that would better cater for there musical expression and influences that until then they where unable to express.
Mixing there love for all things evil and occult, The Poisoning gave each member the chance to pay homage to influential heroes such as The Nerve Agents, AFI, Danzig, The Dead Kennedys and Turbonegro but this was merely the fetal stage of the bands evolution. Growing more confident in there roles and sound more obscure influences where thrown into the cauldron, it was in this concoction that the band found an affinity for the larger than life Glam excess of the 80’s along with having kindred sprits with Norway’s black metal scene which further fueled their blistering punk rock n roll, this proved to be an over the top and often dangerous mix for both the band and the audience, starting mid show fights, having the power cut for refusing to stop playing and getting a whole venue closed for the night for violent conduct are just some of The Poisoning’s miss-adventures in the world of rock n roll.
Unfortunately gigs where few and far between not as a result of extreme behavior or partial nudity but from a growing resentment from the punk scene from which they where spawned. Refusing to merely be pigeon-holed into the hardcore punk scene or the local metal scene, The Poisoning found it difficult to find shows that were suited to them.
However, an extremely successful run of shows including one with Acey Slade’s Trashlight Vision aided the band in finally shedding off the genre disassociation giving them there much sought after title as one hell of a rock n roll band.
The Poisoning through their history however brief have had some strange comparisons, being described as the “black metal misfits” and “what would result if Turbonegro played Dark Throne covers” and however ridiculous that sounds, IT WORKS.
