[edit] Notes

With the release of the Animated Series DVD release, Paramount studio appears to have changed its stance on the series, and is now calling the animated series as part of established canon, including within the pack-in booklet, and dvd extras, and Startrek.com.[1][2][3]

This episode features the first indisputable appearance of male Orions ("Thelev", a spy/assassin surgically altered to appear as an Andorian, portrayed by William O'Connell in the original-series episode Journey to Babel, was speculated to be of Orion origin by Spock, though the issue was unresolved), a race which had previously been represented in Star Trek only by the green Orion Slave Girl.

This was the first episode of the animated series' short-lived second season (only six episodes were produced in the second season, compared to 16 episodes in the first season).
