The Pink Panther 2 (2008 film)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
MGM has announced the production of a sequel to the 2006 box office hit The Pink Panther. Early rumors indicate that in the new film, Inspector Clouseau must team up with equally bumbling detectives from other European countries to fight a continent-wide crime wave.[1]
Steve Martin, who will reprise the role as Insp. Jacques Clouseau, polished the script written by Scott Neustadter and Michael M. Weber and delivered it to MGM.[1] Columbia Pictures, partnering with MGM on this production, then hired the team of Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel to do further rewrites.[2] Production was scheduled to begin in February 2007 for a 2008 release,[1] but a Canadian actors strike delayed shooting in Montreal until a temporary compromise was reached, which will allow shooting to begin sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2007.[3]
Beyoncé Knowles has turned down an offer to reprise her role as pop singer Xania, but rumors have claimed that either Rachel Stevens[4] or Emma Bunton[5] may be in the running to replace Beyoncé as the female lead for the new film.
Shawn Levy, who directed Steve Martin's first Pink Panther adventure, is in talks to be the film's Executive Producer, but as of yet, no one is attached to direct this sequel.[2]
