The Photo Atlas is a dance-punk band from Denver, Colorado. They re-issued their premium album "No, Not Me, Never" on Ultragrrrl's Stolen Transmission Records on March 6, 2007. The band is made out of Alan Andrews on guitar and main vocals, Mark Hawkins on bass, Devon Shirley on drums, and Bill Therkield also on guitar. The Photo Atlas' rigorous touring schedule has enabled them to play many shows, and perform many songs. The Photo Atlas employs the use of many instruments common among modern rock and roll ensembles, such as guitar, drums, and bass guitar. Many of the songs on "No, Not me, Never" include themes of love, relationships, and cartography. Originally from Marcy Houses housing project in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York, Alan Andrews was abandoned by his father Adnes Andrews when he was twelve years old. Andrews attended Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn, along with rapper AZ until it was closed down. After that he attended George Westinghouse High School in Downtown Brooklyn with fellow rappers Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes and Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey but did not graduate. This is the time where he met Mark. The two originally were in rival garage bands] in Trenton. After a long battle of the bands, a controversial decision was reached giving the win to Marks band "terrordactyl" while upsetting the fan favorite and (Alan's band) "5ft Canucks". this started a bitter war between the two, but after a car accident and a switched kidney between the two, they became instantly bonded and forever linked...not only in body, but musically. The pair instantly began writing songs together. They enlisted Devon Shirley, a local hero whom they met at a concert by the now-defunct pop act Savage Garden. Joining The Photo Atlas meant Shirley had to quit his apprenticeship studying under the one and only king of popcorn, Mr. Orville Redenbacher. Second guitarist Bill Therkield joined a month after Shirley, sacrificing his blossoming career tempering "Legend of Zelda" hero Link's Master Sword.
