The Perfect Home

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Perfect Home is a television series commissioned for Channel 4 based on the book The Architecture of Happiness which first aired in 2006

In the programmes, Alain de Botton explored the importance of innovative architecture for homes. He offered criticism of modern suburban developments that build in a fake country cottage style, which he referred to as pastiche, giving the example of Great Notley Garden Village near Braintree, Essex. Examples of more contemporary designs being used on the continent were presented to Bellway Homes as a suggested alternative, which they have incorporated into their Ravenswood on the former Ipswich Airport site in Suffolk.
