The Patriotic Publishing Co.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"THE PATRIOTIC PUBLISHING CO.", formerly operating out of P.O. Box 526, Chicago, Ill., was and is the entity which issued, compiled, edited, and distributed, on and after 1934, the greatly enlarged and expanded imprint — into 300 pages — of The Protocols, more commonly known as The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
[edit] History
In 1934 FDR was elected President of the United States. The same year, upon President von Hindenburg's death, Hitler became Führer of Germany, and this plagiarism was published as the largest English language imprint to date - bearing the name of THE PATRIOTIC PUBLISHING CO.
This notorious text is a compendium substantially consisting of two prior expanded and re-edited imprints of "The Protocols": (1) a version of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion produced and distributed in London by The Britons Publishing Society, with Victor E. Marsden as "author of the translation"; and (2) excerpts from Henry Ford's weekly, The Dearborn Independent, which on 22 May 1920, commenced the serialization with the title, The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem.
The opening slogan, on its title page, of the original 1934 imprint is "United We Fall, Divided We Stand". Subsequent reprints, though bearing the year 1934, have changed the slogan to "United We Stand, Divided We Fall." The "corrected" version suggests the national slogan of the United States, in Latin: E Pluribus Unum. There is a resemblence here also to the colonial flag of the American Revolution, bearing the image of a serpent, or snake, cut into thirteen pieces, representing the original colonies disunited.
In contrast, the promoters of the Protocols of Zion have conceived the so-called "symbolic snake," representing "The Jewish Peril" — Jews encircling the world. Often depicted by a cartoon drawing, representing thereby world domination by Jews. This appears to come into The Protocols, at the earliest, in the epilogue to Serge Nilus's 1905 book, on the imminent appearance of the Anti-Christ, and in which The Protocols appear as Chapter XII (chapter 12) of the Russian language text entitle, Velikoe v malom i antikhrist.
Although other publications with the same or a similar name existed previously, there is no indication that these are in any way related to this publishing entity. The Library of Congress owns five titles under that exact (sometimes "Company occurs abbreviated as "Co.") publisher name. The Library of Congress, however, does not have this 1934 300 page imprint or edition of The Protocols. But The New York Public Library does.[1].
The most popular[citation needed] web-distributed edition appears to be derived from this 1934 imprint. One known publisher which re-issues this version is Noontide Press.
