Getting Away With Murder (2004) |
The Paramour Sessions (2006) |
|
The Paramour Sessions is the fourth major-label album by Californian rock group Papa Roach. It was released on September 12, 2006. While pre-recording, the band rented the Paramour Mansion which the album name reflects. Like their previous effort, Getting Away with Murder, the album steers away from their previous nu metal sound except for ...To Be Loved which features a few rap style verses. This album has got only a few post-hardcore and pop-punk influences.

[edit] Concept
This album has a darker tone, reflecting drug use and life's hardships, as is evident in "Forever" (You're my heroin, in this moment I'm lonely, fullfilling my darkest dreams, all these drugs, all these women, I'm never forgiven, this broken heart of mine.) and "I Devise My Own Demise", which is self explanatory. Many others reflect these real-life themes, including "Roses On My Grave" and "Time Is Running Out". "Crash" is about resorting to animal instincts and a mental crash, realizing what is happening.
[edit] Sales
The album debuted at #16 on the Billboard 200 Chart with 37,000 copies sold. Sales so far have been disappointing with estimates of 200,000 copies sold in America as of April 6, 2007, which is a far cry from the 3 million copies Infest shipped.
[edit] Miscellaneous
- The song "To Be Loved" is the theme to WWE Monday Night RAW
- The song "Roses On My Grave" was dedicated to the memory of Rachel Davis, who died on October 29th 2005 in a tragic car accident. The lyrics "the ground never seemed so far away" are taken from her MySpace page (Rachel Davis' MySpace page). At live shows the song is dedicated to Jacoby's step-grandfather, Howard William Roatch, from whom the name Papa Roach originated. He was a victim of suicide.
