The Paly Voice
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Started in Fall 2002, The Paly Voice is a student-run journalism Web site published continuously by the students in Palo Alto High School's Web Journalism class.
At the Voice, staff members present their own reporting, writing, and photography along with work from the school's magazine, newspaper and broadcast journalism programs. The site also serves as a searchable archive of the content of these publications despite being widely considered inferior to the Tamalpais News' website, Tamnews.org, by the National Scholastic Press Association.
As of Jun. 12, 2006, the Voice staff has written 923 stories as well as posted 2031 Campanile articles, 446 Verde stories, 297 In Focus broadcasts, 3467 images, and 1868 pieces of feedback from readers. Altogether, they have received a total of 1842847 hits.
Last month, the site had 41008 unique visitors from over 80 countries, according to traffic-tracking software. Overseas visitors primarily consisted of people from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and the Netherlands.
The Voice has also been referred by 6,500 external pages. The primary referrer is paly.net, the school's official website, which has been featuring the Voice spotlight boxes on its front page since 2003.
