"The One With the Worst Best Man Ever" is the twenty-second episode of season four of the television sitcom Friends.
[edit] Plot
Joey is crushed to learn that Ross has already asked Chandler to be his best man. Chandler comforts Joey by telling him that he can be his best man, but Joey complains that he will never get to be best man (because he thinks Chandler will never get married). Ross is mad that Chandler wouldn't choose him to be his best man after he lets Chandler be his best man twice (Chandler was Ross's best man in his first wedding, too), so he decides to make Joey his best man to punish Chandler. Chandler says "this is a question for science fiction writers."
Phoebe is beginning to experience mood swings as a result of her pregnancy. When they learn that Joey is planning a bachelor party for Ross, Monica and Rachel decide to throw a baby shower for Phoebe. However, they are afraid that baby clothes will make Phoebe depressed because she is being a surrogate mom for her brother, Frank Jr., and will not be able to dress them. They decide to get her non-baby presents, like leather pants, but Phoebe is very upset because she won't be able to wear them until after her pregnancy.
Over at Ross's bachelor party, Ross congratulates Joey on his decision to get a stripper. Joey shows off the commemorative t-shirts he had designed: they say "Ross Geller, Bachelor Bash 1998" on the front and the back has a huge picture of Joey with a caption saying "Best Man, Joey Tribbiani." Joey starts flirting with the stripper and winds up sleeping with her. He wakes up to find both her and the wedding ring gone.
Phoebe thinks she has a contraction, but it was only false labor. She begins to feel sad as she starts to realize that she has to give the babies away, but Monica reminds her that she will get to be fun Aunt Phoebe.
Joey's attempt to call 911 doesn't work too well because they tell him a lost/stolen ring is not an emergency. Ross is furious to learn that Joey has lost the wedding ring, which has been in his family for generations. Chandler comes up with a plan to hire her to come to his office so they can confront her about the ring. She says she makes more money than they do and has no reason to steal the ring. The guys figure out that the duck swallowed the ring, and a doctor manages to get it out with no harm to the duck. In an emotional scene, Ross, Joey, and Chandler all tear up when Ross says that he wants both of them to be his best man.
