[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Joey dislocates his shoulder - he'd been jumping on the bed, and fell off. He's embarrassed when Chandler told the doctor how it really happened - Chandler didn't think the doctor would buy Joey's "it fell out of the socket" excuse.

Monica has come up with a plan to help herself get over Richard: She's going to make and sell jam. She makes tons of jam (most of which jam-lover Joey ends up eating). After realising she'd have to charge $17 a jar (and quit giving freebies to Joey) just to break even, she comes up with another plan: She's going to solicit sperm donors. While going through profiles, she comes across one for a 27-year-old Italian-American actor who loves the New York Knicks and is the only boy out of eight children. The last part makes Monica realize whose profile she's come across: Joey's. Joey admits that after he did the fertility study at NYU, he went to a sperm bank and made a "donation." Joey inadvertently ends up talking her out of it, when he tells Monica he'd always pictured her married to a tall blond guy named Hoyt, with three kids and her own pool (complete with a sign Joey gave them - "We don't swim in your toilet, so don't pee in our pool.").

A guy named Malcolm starts following Phoebe around - turns out she's again a victim of mistaken identity, as Malcolm thinks he'd been stalking Phoebe's twin sister Ursula. Phoebe confronts him, and realizes he's a nice guy. They start to date, but he starts stalking Ursula again - so Phoebe starts stalking him to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Chandler complains that Janice takes up too much room on the bed, so Ross teaches him a "Hug and Roll" maneuver he secretly uses on Rachel. Chandler ends up dumping Janice onto the floor, and inadvertently getting Ross in trouble when Janice accidentally tells Rachel about the maneuver.

[edit] Trivia

  • Matt LeBlanc dislocated his shoulder while attempting a sight gag. To explain why his character Joey would be wearing a sling, the show's writers inserted the subplot of Joey jumping on the bed and falling off, and they cleverly never actually show him doing any of the monkeying.
  • Malcolm is played by David Arquette, he later married Courtney Cox (Monica Geller)

[edit] Goofs

  • About five minutes into the episode, during a conversation between Chandler, Ross and Rachel in the girls' apartment, a shadow can be seen passing behind the closet door in the back. This happens while the three friends are the only ones in the apartment, meaning that someone else was walking by backstage.
