"The One with the Evil Orthodontist" is the twentieth episode of season one of the television situation comedy Friends.

The gang argues over which snack food mascot is more intimidating: Mr. Salty or Mr. Peanut. Someone is spying on Monica and Rachel with a telescope. Joey gets to the bottom of the situation and finds out the peeper is a woman - and she thinks very highly of the people she's spying on. Chandler goes on a great date with a woman named Danielle; he then starts obsessing over whether or not to call her. Rachel goes to Barry's office to talk about his recent confession that he loves her. They end up going to lunch and Barry buys Rachel Chanel perfume. Rachel relates the story to Monica back at home and confesses that they slept together. Soon after that Rachel gets a call from Mindy, asking that they meet up. Rachel becomes paranoid and guilt-ridden convinced that Mindy has figured out about her and Barry sleeping together. It turns out that Mindy is clueless and ends up asking Rachel to be her maid of honor. Mindy also confesses she and Barry had a "thing on the side" while he was engaged to Rachel. Then Mindy starts crying saying that she is scared Barry is having an affair and that all she knows is that "she lives in the city", and Barry came home "smelling like Chanel." Rachel holds out her wrist to Mindy, letting her know that it was her that Barry had an affair with, and both hug and forgive each other. Mindy and Rachel confront Barry, letting him know they both know of his two-timing. Barry gets visibly confused as he tries to pacify both. Mindy decides to marry Barry anyway, and Rachel finally is at peace with her decision to have not married Barry.

• This episode is mentioned in an episode of My Name Is Earl, where a hippie community is reinacting the episode. Later in the episode they are seen playing in an inflatable pool with umbrellas, reinacting the opening sequence of the series.
