The One with the Dozen Lasagnas

"The One With the Dozen Lasagnas" is the twelfth episode of season one of the television situation comedy Friends.
First aired: January 12, 1995
[edit] Plot
Monica makes a dozen lasagnas for her aunt, but she didn't know they were supposed to be vegetarian, so she's stuck with them, and desperately gives them away to as many people as she can.
Joey and Chandler go back to their apartment. They throw the key onto the dining table, and the table breaks. They debate on whether or not splitting the cost for a new table suggests that they're making a commitment to stay together as roommates. They decide on going ahead with splitting the cost, but in the end, instead of a dining table, they buy a foosball table (which becomes one of the most significant objects on the show).
Rachel and Paolo are planning to go to the Poconos on their first weekend away together. However, Paolo makes a pass at Phoebe by groping her when he visits the massage parlor she works at. Phoebe tells Rachel, who then breaks up with Paolo. Chandler and Joey convince Ross to swoop in on Rachel and start the "Age of Ross". Ross drops subtle hints on Rachel at wanting to spark a relationship with her, but she declares her aversion to men for the time being (and is not exactly aware of Ross's intentions).
Ross's ex-wife Carol finds out the gender of their baby, but Ross doesn't want to know until the baby is born. Eventually the entire gang knows except for Ross himself, but he finds out it's a boy when Rachel lets it slip.
[edit] Trivia
- Chandler's roommate before Joey was named "Kip".
- Phoebe rarely makes her superb oatmeal raisin cookies because, as she says, "It's not fair to the other cookies."
- The theme song that the group spontaneously joins Ross in humming at the beginning of the episode is from "The Odd Couple", which aired on ABC from 1970 to 1975. Ross attempts to start a second round, this one the theme from "I Dream of Jeannie", which aired on NBC from 1965 to 1970, but Chandler cuts him off, saying "We're done."
[edit] Goofs
- This episode was filmed before many others, so the numbers on the doors on the apartments still read 4 and 5, although they had changed to 19 and 20 much earlier on in the season.
- After the end credits have been shown, there is a clip of Monica beating Joey and Chandler at table football. When the camera shows Monica scoring, she is scoring with a blue player. However, from the side she is standing on, she should be playing with the red team. The clip of her scoring was re-used from earlier on in the episode, when Monica and Ross beat Joey and Chandler (while playing on the other side, hence playing with the blue team), which explains the inaccuracy.
