[edit] Plot

Chandler and Ross are bothered by two bullies, Arthur and Carl, at Central Perk. They make Chandler and Ross give up their favorite couch, and steal Chandler's hat. After retreating to Chandler and Joey's apartment, they decide to stand up to the two bullies. The four decide to fight outside Central Perk, removing their watches so they don't get damaged. The fight's about to start when someone steals the group's watches. Chandler, Ross, Arthur and Carl decide then to put their differences behind them.

Monica has a chance to work at the "Moondance Diner," a 1950s themed restaurant wherein she would dress in costume and be forced to make dishes such as the "Laverne and Curly Fries." Instead, she decides to try her hand at the stock market. She buys three stocks: MEG (her initials), CHP (because of her girlhood crush on Erik Estrada), and ZXY (because "it sounds 'zexy'"). However, when she loses all her money, she swallows her pride and takes the job at the diner.

Phoebe finally feels ready to meet her father, this time taking Joey and Rachel along for moral support. However, when she gets there, his dog prevents her from coming up the walk. She goes to leave, and accidentally runs over the dog. Phoebe decides to take the dog to the vet, figuring she'll finally meet her dad when she returns the dog. When she returns the dog, she talks to her stepmother and learns that her father ran out on them four years prior. However, she does meet her half-brother, Frank Jr.

[edit] Trivia

  • This is the first mention of Monica's middle name. During the course of the series, the middle name is never revealed.
  • Monica mentions seeing a stock symbol with her intitials, MEG. MEG is the real-life stock symbol for Media General.
  • Giovanni Ribisi, the actor playing Frank Jr., shows up in earlier episode The One With the Baby on the Bus as a kid who drops a condom in Phoebe's guitar case.

[edit] Quotes

  • Joey (to Ross): Haven't you ever gotten beat up before?
    Ross: Yeah.
Joey: I mean by someone besides Monica.
    Ross: No...
  • Chandler: Hey... do you have to be a Century 21 agent to get to wear those cool jackets?
Ross: Do you say this stuff to girls?
