[edit] Plot

Rachel has her first proper night out with Phoebe after having given birth to Emma. Ross is taking care of their baby and has invited Phoebe's boyfriend Mike over, so they can get to know each other better. Just before Phoebe and Mike are due to arrive, Rachel and Ross share "a moment" together.

Rachel later relates this "moment" to Phoebe whilst they are out. Two guys strike up a conversation with them - Rachel is reluctant, but Phoebe says that nothing has to happen.

Meanwhile, Mike and Ross are discovering that actually, they have nothing in common.

The guys in the bar ask for Rachel and Phoebe's numbers. Phoebe declines, explaining she has a boyfriend. Initially, Rachel refuses, and then gives one of the guys her (and therefore Ross's) number. She explains to Phoebe that she doesn't think anything will happen with Ross, and Phoebe points out that the guy (Bill) is going to call her tonight, and Ross will pick up.

Rachel panics, but it is too late to get her number back, so she calls Mike on Phoebe's phone, forcing him to return to Ross's apartment (which he has just left, in some relief) and answer the phone if it rings. He goes back to an obviously dismayed Ross.

When the girls return, Ross and Mike are clearly delighted to see them, and Mike and Phoebe leave straight away. Rachel makes up an excuse to talk to Mike outside, to find out if Bill called. Ironically, whilst she is doing this, Bill phones and Ross picks up. He takes down the message for her, but when he sees her looking after their daughter, he screws the message up.

[edit] Sub-Plots

Monica's restaurant has hit a busy period, meaning she can only spend one night with Chandler during his time in New York - unfortunately, the same night that Joey has picked up Knicks tickets for Chandler and him. Rather than tell Joey that he wants to spend time with Monica, Chandler lies and claims he has to stay in Tulsa. However, Joey overhears them in Monica's apartment and believes Monica is having an affair.

Joey phones Chandler, who, in an elaborate ruse, climbs down the fire escape and pretends to have just flown in from Tulsa. They burst into Monica's apartment and search it - obviously finding nobody. Joey, however, discovers Chandler's suitcase by the door, which he didn't have with him when he entered with Joey. Chandler confesses, and Joey asks him to make it up to him by going to the Knicks game. Monica agrees he can go, but then Chandler discovers that the tickets are for tomorrow night.
