"The One With Joey's Dirty Day" is the fourteenth episode of season four of the television situation comedy Friends.

Before getting to work on a movie with Charlton Heston, Joey goes on a three-day fishing trip with his father. After not showering during the trip and oversleeping, Joey is forced to go to the movie still stinking of fish. He sneaks into Heston's dressing room to shower, but ends up being caught by Heston himself.

Still depressed about his break-up with Kathy, Chandler mopes around in sweatpants, still stuck in phase one. Monica, Phoebe and Rachel decide to help Chandler get to phase two by taking him to a strip club. While the girls' best efforts don't seem to do much, their offer to talk to Chandler about his feelings has unexpected benefits. Chandler then finally gets back to his normal self.

Rachel's boss, Mr. Waltham requests her to take his niece Emily, who is visiting from London, to the opera. When Joshua asks her to a night-club opening on the same night, Rachel begs Ross to go the opera with Emily. Although a rain-drenched Emily doesn't make a great first impression, Rachel is shocked when she finds out that Ross and Emily have hit it off really well and even had a great weekend at Vermont together. But Rachel's own date goes bad when she is unable to make it into Joshua's new club and also gets into a fight with one of the other women trying to get in.

• This is the first appearance of Emily (Helen Baxendale).
• In the episode, it is revealed that there are at least four phases in Chandler's process of getting over Kathy. From Chandler's perspective, Phase One is sitting around in sweatpants, Phase Two is getting drunk and going to a strip club, Phase Three is picturing himself with other women, and Phase Four is not ever wanting a relationship and instead having sex with strippers and friends.
