[edit] Plot

Chandler discovers he's put on a little bit of weight. Monica begs Chandler to let her be his personal trainer - she's unemployed and needs something to do. Chandler resists at first, saying it would cut into his "laying-around time," but finally lets her. He comes to regret this decision, as she starts driving him crazy. She even has him doing exercises at work - his doing "butt clenches" at his desk causes the mailroom workers to not deliver his mail anymore. Monica even has him running on Sundays - which Chandler protests, claiming "it's God's day!"

Phoebe has started dating a guy named Scott, but she's concerned because they haven't slept together yet. She finally gets him to do so by saying he should just relax and he doesn't even have to call her later - actions which prompt Joey to announce that "this man is my God!"

Rachel, still harboring feelings for Ross, is upset when she learns that Ross and Julie are thinking of getting a cat. To help her get over it, Monica sets her up on a date with a guy named Michael. The date goes awry, however, when Rachel drinks too much wine and spends the entire date obsessing over Ross and Julie. Michael tells her that maybe what she needs is closure, so she borrows a cell phone and leaves Ross a drunken message proclaiming she's over him.

The next morning, Ross comes over to check his messages. As soon as he says there's one from Rachel, she realises what she's done and tries to snatch the phone away before he can hear the message. Of course, she's too late - he hears the message after all. He can't deal with the confession and leaves. Later, he goes to Central Perk to confront Rachel, saying her confession was a little too late. However, when he spies Rachel crying through the window, he comes back into the coffee shop and kisses her.

At the end of the episode, Monica shows up to take Chandler on an early morning run. Chandler just wants to go back to sleep, so he decides to "unmotivate" Monica. He points out that her job search isn't going well, that her parents would be disappointed if they found out, and that she doesn't have a boyfriend. It works - a depressed Monica decides to forgo running in favor of a nap on the couch, and Chandler celebrates.
