"The One Where Joey Dates Rachel" is the twelfth episode of the eighth season of Friends.

Joey agrees to take Rachel on a date, since she can't date until the baby is born. He makes a big deal out of it, coming to the door with lilies and refusing to talk about room-mate things, like the rent. They share "moves" - typical things they do on dates - and Joey discovers he's never had so much fun on a date. He realises that he's falling for Rachel, and at first thinks she might feel the same way, but recognises that she doesn't.

Phoebe gives Chandler and Monica the Ms. Pac-Man arcade game as a wedding present. Chandler at first refuses to play it, but after spending all day on it, manages to get all the top scores. Unfortunately, he has filled in all the winner's names with rude words, and Ben is coming over to play the game. Phoebe consents to try and beat all of Chandler's scores. Ben arrives, and there is just one score left to override. Phoebe loses and lets out a stream of expletives just as Ben enters, but comically moves to block the screen from his view.

Ross gets given the Head of Department's classes - which, unfortunately, are in a different part of the city. He is forced to resort to extreme measures in order to make all his classes on time, such as sprinting (which causes him to faint when teaching) as well as using rollerblades.

Joey asks Rachel about a place where to take his date, which leads Rachel to realize how much she misses the dating scene since she became pregnant. Joey offers to take her on a date and vows that they will have a good time (he even appears at their own apartment like a date). During their night out, they exchange dating moves and enjoy the evening, leaving Joey feeling...different. His feelings carry over to his original date, distracting him. He ends up going back to the apartment and comforting Rachel while watching Cujo, still feeling different and episode ends in a cliffhanger.
