[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The gang goes to the set of Marcel's movie. Ross, hoping for an emotional reunion with his former pet, is distraught when Marcel initially ignores him. However, Marcel comes to him after the group sing a jungle song in chorus. Joey takes Phoebe's help to impress the movie's director so he can get a part in the movie.

Chandler runs into Susie Moss, an old schoolmate from when he was a child. She is working as a production assistant on the film. In the fourth grade, during the class play, Chandler lifted Susie's skirt up, giving the audience full view of her underwear and earning her the nickname "Susie Underpants." However, she is seemingly glad to see Chandler again. She asks him out to dinner, but before they go she somehow convinces him to wear her thong underwear. At the restaurant, Susie entices Chandler into the men's room - only to steal his clothes and leave him, wearing only her underwear, in the stall. Embarrassed, and after Joey and Ross refuse to help him out, Chandler has to find a way to leave the restaurant.

Meanwhile Monica and Rachel meet the movie's star Jean-Claude Van Damme, and compete for his attentions. He ends up asking Rachel out, much to Monica's disappointment. They fight over this, and Rachel agrees to let Monica date him instead. That goes awry when Monica learns Rachel has told Jean-Claude that Monica wants a threesome with him and Drew Barrymore. After another fight, Monica destroys Rachel's favorite sweater and Rachel dumps a jar of spaghetti sauce in Monica's purse. Phoebe makes them see that their fighting is silly and they make up.

Ross is disappointed that Marcel cannot meet him because he is too busy. Later, Marcel manages to get to the coffee house, and a very happy Ross takes him out.

Joey gets a small role as a dying man in the movie, but his overacting causes him to lose his one speaking line.

[edit] Additional cast

Susie Moss - Julia Roberts
Himself - Jean-Claude Van Damme

[edit] Trivia

  • At one point, you can see Julia Roberts' character talking with an assistant, Cathy. Cathy is played by Roberts' real-life sister, Lisa.
  • This was the highest rated episode of the series, according to the Nielsen Ratings
  • The part between Chandler and Susie is copied by Hong Kong director Lee Lik Chi in his 1998 movie The Lucky Guy, with Stephen Chow and Sammi Cheng playing in Chandler and Susie's roles.
  • The song during the montage of Ross and Marcel's day together in Manhattan is "Looks Like We Made It" by Barry Manilow.
  • The music heard whilst Chandler walks out of the restaurant is "Habanera" by Georges Bizet.

[edit] Goofs

  • When Chandler leaves the restaurant carrying the door from the bathroom stall, a glimpse of clothing, possibly a pair of shorts, or a towel, is seen as he maneuvers the door through the tables. This is despite the fact he is supposed to be naked except for a "hot pink thong".
