The Note
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Note is a playstation"horror" game released in 1997 (Atleast PAL version). It's a sunsoft game, and it is probably the most unknown game ever made on the playstation gaming system. The story is about Akira, a freelance occult journalist who was visited by a woman. The woman's daughter had left on a trip with her friends and she never returned. Well naturally Akira goes to search for her in a huge mansion.
Gameplay : The game is pretty unique, you can do a lot of things you had never imagined of in a playstation game. You can for example open the curtains to bring more light to the rooms, which sometimes helps solve a puzzle or defeat an enemy. You play the game in 1st person, which is okay. The shooting is really wonky though, you have no crosshairs or a weapon in screen, you just have to get enemies to center of your screen and shoot. Hard huh ? You can assign 4 specific commands / actions to the shoulder buttons (R1, R2, L1, L2)which helps a lot.
The game is really weird, most of the time you're wandering around searching for what to do, game doesn't give a lot of hints where to go either, or atleast HOW to go. And sometimes the answer can be this "simple". Wait 8 hours (game hours) in front of a door, go in. Turn all lights off, use specific item in a specific part of the room. Doesn't make much sense.
All in all this was a decent game when it came out, I'm sure 99% of people have never even heard of it but boy ! It sure does exist. And some playstation fanatics that want to own all of the games would be more than happy to own this game.
