[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Jerry, Elaine and George eat at a non-fat frozen yogurt shop in which Kramer has invested, but gain weight and fear that the yogurt is not as healthy as its purveyors claim. Jerry inadvertently uses the "f-word" while near a neighbor's son, who himself starts to use the word frequently. Elaine commissions a laboratory to evaluate the yogurt and unknowingly gives her boyfriend, Lloyd Braun (also George's nemesis), the idea to promote name tags for everyone in New York City, which he then suggests to the current mayor of New York City, David Dinkins. Kramer's date with a lab technician produces a very odd cholesterol test result for Dinkins' opponent, Rudy Giuliani.

[edit] Trivia

  • This is the first appearance by Lloyd Braun. He was played by Peter Keleghan. Matt McCoy will reappear as Lloyd Braun in "The Gum" and "The Serenity Now".
  • According to the book The Seinfeld Universe, both Dinkins and Giuliani were lined up to perform the guest appearance at the end of the episode. Producers waited out that year's New York City mayoral elections to see which candidate emerged victorious. When Giuliani was officially announced the winner, he filmed the scene, which was then edited into the episode roughly one day before broadcast.
  • On the fifth season DVD set of "Seinfeld", there are two different versions of this episode available. Each one features different footage that corresponds with the two possible outcomes of the mayoral election.
  • It's pretty obvious that this episode was filmed after the "The Barber," episode even though it premired before it, since Jerry's hair is still short from the bad haircut he got.
