The New Dance Show was a television show in Detroit which ran in the late 1980s and early 1990s on WGPR-TV 62 (now a CBS affiliate known as WWJ-TV). Hosted by R.J. Watkins, The New Dance Show was a low-budget local version of Soul Train and featured regular dancers including a man who dressed like a vampire and wore a cape and a woman who dressed as a boxer.(YouTube videos, The New Dance Show [1]) The show was the successor to The Scene which aired during the late 1970s and early 1980s on the same station.
