The New Barbarians (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The New Barbarians was a rock and roll band, playing concerts across the United States and Canada in 1979. The group was formed and led by Rolling Stones and Faces guitarist Ron Wood and included, on most nights, Rolling Stones member Keith Richards. Wood also recruited Stanley Clarke, former Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan, Stones confederate and saxophonist Bobby Keys and Ziggaboo Modeliste. The band played a mix of classic rock and blues tracks, as well as Ron Wood solo material and Rolling Stones songs. The band played a Keith Richards court ordered charity concert near Toronto, Ontario at the Oshawa Civic Auditorium on April 22, 1979. The tour also made news in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when fans rioted after it was announced Richards would not play that evening. On 4 September 2006, a two disc CD was released on Ron Wood's own record label, Wooden Records, featuring a show in Maryland called Buried Alive: Live in Maryland.
