• NBC's studio show broadcasts out of the rink at New York's Rockefeller Center, at the foot of NBC's offices during January and February. This allows the on-air talent (both former NHL players) and their guests (often ex-players and youth hockey teams) to demonstrate plays and hockey skills.

From April onwards, and during inclement weather, the studio show moves to NBC's Football Night in America studios, as the ice is removed from the rink. For the Finals, it is live on location.

• NBC's NHL reporters have been referred to as "inside-the-glass reporters", who stand between team benches.

At the end of the 2005-06 NHL season, John Davidson left NBC in favor of a job as President of the St. Louis Blues. In Davidson's place as the lead game analyst came studio analyst Eddie Olczyk, and hired Brett Hull as Olczyk's replacement in the studio.

For a couple of weeks, Cammi Granato was off of NBC's coverage of the league so she could spend extra time with her new son. NBC ended up televising two games a week for the rest of the season, so Granato was not needed until the playoffs.
