The Musical Box (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Musical Box is a Canadian band founded in 1993 known for staging near-perfect re-creations of famous Genesis shows from the 1972-1975 era. It is the only band officially licensed by Genesis and Peter Gabriel, and is named after their song "The Musical Box".
Ever since their start in 1993 they have been perfecting their Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway shows. They make extensive use of the same instruments and sound equipment used by Genesis during the 70's, exact replicas of special stage props including Peter Gabriel's costumes, and copies of the original slides shown during Genesis concerts.
Where Tony Banks has only viewed a video recording of a concert, the other four Genesis members from the 1972-1975 era have personally attended concerts by The Musical Box, Steve Hackett and Phil Collins sometimes joining the band on stage to play some of their original guitar and drums parts.
