[edit] Style
The film is somewhat dark, similar to other Disney live-action features made in the 1950s and 1960s for more mainstream audiences, such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. By now, it is somewhat forgotten by most audiences, an obscure title in the Disney film collection.
[edit] Plot
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
A girl named Nikki Ferris and her aunt accidentally get involved in a jewel theft, romance, and murder. The climax of the film involves the hero and heroine having to dodge the villains by clinging to the sails of a windmill. This scene does not feature in the novel.
[edit] Trivia
- Actress Pola Negri had been retired for two decades, and Walt Disney convinced her to return to the screen for this, her final film.
- Walt Disney's next to last live-action film that he was credited as producer while alive.
