[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

George is set to buy a 1989 Volvo car, but instead ends up buying Jon Voight's 1986 LeBaron convertible. Elaine wants to date Jerry's dentist, Dr. Tim Whatley. Kramer tells that a "Mom and Pop" shoe repair store is about to close, and convinces Jerry to lend him his sneakers to take them to the store. While there Kramer notices wires hanging out of the ceiling and suggest calling an electrician.

At Mr. Pitt's office Elaine is taking the salt off his pretzels while listening the radio. Mr. Pitt wants Elaine to guess an oldie song so he can win tickets to hold the Woody Woodpecker balloon in the Thanksgiving Parade. Kramer took all of Jerry's sneakers and left him only a pair of cowboy boots. Elaine, George and Kramer all got invitations to Dr. Tim Whatley's Thanksgiving party but Jerry is uncertain whether he was invited or not.

While riding "Jon Voight's" car Jerry notices a chewed pencil and the owner's booklet. The previous owner was "John Voight", not "Jon Voight". Jerry makes fun of George and he is kicked out the car; he then tries to run from some guys but slips because of the boots. Jerry has a toothache because of his previous fall and decides to crash the party where many dentists may be present.

Apparently Mom and Pop couldn't afford to repair the ceiling so they closed the store, taking all of Jerry's sneakers. Elaine goes to pick up the tickets to the parade but must withstand loud oldies. While walking down the street Kramer sees the real Jon Voight and tries to inquiry him about George's car. However, Jon Voight bites Kramer in the arm.

At the party Elaine can't hear a thing because of the loud music she listened before. George and Kramer seek a dentist to match Kramer's bite marks in his arm with those in the chewed pencil. As it turns out the previous owner of the car was not Jon Voight, the actor, but Dr. John Voight, a periodontist friends with Dr. Whatley. Jerry pushes a small statue of the Empire State out the window and pierces the Woody Woodpecker balloon with Mr. Pitt under it.

Later, Jerry receives a call that Mom and Pop are selling his sneakers in a garage sale.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Superman reference

Elaine: So, Jerome, I did a little snooping around for you.
Jerry: Ah! What'd you find out, Lois?

[edit] Trivia

  • Jon Voight makes a cameo as himself in this episode. When Kramer runs up to his cab to ask him about the car, Voight (thinking Kramer was trying to rob him) bites Kramer's arm. At the party, George and Kramer try to get a dentist to determine whether the bite marks on Kramer's arm match those on a pencil from George's new car.
  • The final scene of this episode parodies Midnight Cowboy.
  • In syndication, this episode is one of few of Season 6 to feature Jerry's stand-up routine.
