The Mistake is the eighth episode of the second season of House, which premiered on the FOX network on November 29, 2005.
[edit] Synopsis
Chase is scheduled for a disciplinary hearing before the hospital board regarding the death of a young mother in clinic six months ago under his responsibility. Throughout the episode the story of her death is presented through flashbacks as Chase and House share the story with Stacey, the hospital lawyer. Both Chase and House lie about the reason for his mistake. Late in the episode, House reveals that he knows what caused Chase to make a mistake: the death of his father due to cancer. House attempts to convince Chase to tell the truth, believing this will save him from severe disciplinary action. Chase is interviewed by the board, and they come to a decision which affects House more than Chase.
In the last episode, House shows that he still has feelings for Stacey. In this episode, the bitterness between and Houses' usual attitude, causes a few problems when getting a testimony.
