The Miniature Killer is a fictional character on the CBS drama CSI:Crime Scene Investigation.

The mysterious serial killer first appeared in the seventh season opener, "Built To Kill (Part I)", and has been a recurring character in several episodes since. He/she is the only serial killer to elude the CSIs on four separate occasions.

[edit] Background

The killer works by making a half-inch scale model of the crime scene, complete with a model of the victim. Everything is exactly where it is when the police arrive on the scene. The killer also leaves an image of a bloody doll somewhere in the model.

[edit] The Murders

The following are The Miniature Killer's murders. In each miniature scene, a different view of the same bloody doll was found.

[edit] Izzy Delancy

Izzy Delancy (Danny Bonaduce) was a has-been rock star found dead in his kitchen. The killer's model was found nearby in the room. Gil Grissom found that the blood used in the model was actual blood from the victim, meaning the killer must have added it after killing Delancy. Delancy was killed by blunt force trauma to the head. Grissom found blood residue on a rolling pin in one of the drawers in the room, exactly where it should be according to the killer's model. Grissom was urged to release the knowledge of the miniature crime scene to the press, but refused on the grounds that it would interfere with investigations.

[edit] Penny Garden

Penny, a woman dying of cancer, was assumed to have been pushed out of her window after being poisoned. Upon initial investigation, it appeared the motive was to steal her pain medication. However the crime scene also came complete with another miniature, making this The Miniature killer's second hit. Archie managed to find a videotape of a man delivering the package to the crime scene from a neighbors security camera, but no positive ID could be identified.

[edit] Raymundo Suarez

Raymundo Suarez was the janitor at the Mannleigh Chicken factory. His body was found in a basin filled with only a few inches of water. The basin, CSI learned, was used to stun chickens before they died. The electric current is what killed Raymundo. A miniature replica of the stun room was found in the actual stun room, much like the Izzy Delancy case. It turned out that Izzy Delancy actually made a Public Service Announcement against the chicken factory as part of his 'new leaf'. By cross referencing the murders, the PSA, and the workers at the factory, CSI found a main suspect: Ernie Dell. When they searched his home, they found a large workshop for building miniature models, as well as an elaborate miniature train set up, all around the trains were scene of murder and destruction. Upon looking at the video of the package being delivered to Penny Garden's house a train was discovered on the back of the deliverer's shirt. Which led them to a train club that Ernie Dell was apart of. At the end of the episode Ernie sent a live video feed to Grissom confessing the murders. At the end of the video he shot himself in the head, just moments before the SWAT team arrived. The case of The Miniature Killer appeared to be closed.

[edit] Barbara Tallman/Officer Kamen

Soon after Grissom took a leave of absence, a package containing a miniature crime scene was delivered to his office. When he returned and opened the package, he was stunned to see the Miniature Killer was still at large. Upon examining the model, he found a newspaper dated for the next day. Also in the model was another photo of the bloody doll, as well as all of the old photos. Upon examining the old doll photos, Grissom noticed what appeared to be invisible ink. Under a dark light, the photos showed the word "you were wrong". CSI discovered the apartment belonged to a psychotherapist named Barbara Tallman, they found her in her apartment alive...before the murder was set to take place. In an effort to catch The Miniature Killer once and for all, the team placed a decoy in the room, Officer Kamen.

The victim's brother arrived, but other than that no one showed. When CSI went to tell Officer Kamen, they found her dead, along with Tallman's cat. They were both in the exact places their corresponding dolls were in the model, except, of course, that Officer Kamen was not the intended victim. Officer Kamen had been killed by a timed-release carbon monoxide machine in the chimney. Tallman was found dead in the same position the next morning, after refusing to have a guard spend the night. Her brother made a press conference revealing The Miniature Killer to the public. CSI later found his DNA from tears on his sister's body. He was part of an assisted suicide, that Tallman tried to blame conveniently on The Miniature Killer. The murder proved that Ernie Dell was in fact not the real Miniature Killer, but had taken the blame (and the bullet) for someone. CSI questioned his only biological son, and found that they had a very poor relationship. They also concluded that the son couldn't have committed the crimes. The son did however tell them that his father cared for many foster children, one of which, CSI deduced, is The Miniature Killer.
