[edit] Movie

The movie is about a group of very different people who live in a hotel in Los Angeles, focusing primarily on Tom Tom (Davies) and his romance with Eloise (Jovovich). The events that unfold in the film are the result of the apparent suicide of the son of a United States Senator at the hotel. His father commissions an FBI agent (Mel Gibson) to look into his death.

The story was originally developed by Bono in 1987 when filming the famous live video for "Where the Streets Have No Name" on the roof of the Roslyn Million Dollar Hotel in Los Angeles. The movie was optioned by Mel Gibson's production company in 1992. Bono was in discussions with Gary Oldman for the lead role of Tom Tom at the time. The movie was sidelined until 1999 due to disagreements between Gibson, Oldman, and their requirements of who would direct the film.

The movie received moderate success and a mixed critical reception. Gibson said in a later interview that this was "boring as a dog's ass." He had little time to develop his character before filming started.
