The Man Who Walked Between the Towers is a 2003 children's book by Mordicai Gerstein that won the 2004 Caldecott Medal. It tells the true story of Philippe Petit, a man who walked the space of the World Trade Center in New York City on August 7, 1974 on a tightrope.
It was adapted into an animated short film with the same name in 2005 by Michael Sporn, narrated by Jake Gyllenhaal. [1] The film received the Audience Choice Award for best short film at the 2005 Heartland Film Festival.[2]
