The Machines was a stable of masked wrestlers in the WWF. The Machines' masks and gimmick were copied from New Japan Pro Wrestling character "Super Strong Machine," played by Japanese wrestler Junji Hirata.[citation needed]

The Machines gimmick was created as a way to further the storyline between the Heenan Family and Andre the Giant. Andre was forced to "leave" the federation in a storyline. It eventually led to Andre being allowed to once again compete in the WWF. The storyline only lasted a few months, six at the most. I do not believe that there were any occasional members ever used. Just the three of them.
