Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Kazuko Yoshiyama is a third grade junior high school girl. While cleaning the school science room with her clasmates Kazuo Fukamachi and Gorō Asakura, she smells a lavender-like scent and faints. After three days, strange events transpire around Kazuko. Gorō's house catches fire due to an earthquake at night. At the exact moment of a car accident the next morning, Kazuko goes back in time to the previous day's morning.

She repeats the same day and tells the strange experience to Kazuo and Gorō. They don't believe her at first, but they finally believe her account after she accurately predicts both the earthquake and the ensuing fire. Fukushima-Sensei, their science teacher, explains that her ability is called "teleportation" and "time-leap", and that she must leap to four days back in time to reveal the facts.

Finally, Kazuko's determination enables her to leap back in time, and she awaits a mysterious stranger in the science room four days previous to her time-leap. The stranger she meets there is Kazuo Fukamachi. Kazuo tells her that his real name is "Ken Sogoru", and that he is a time-traveler from AD 2660. He mistakenly arrived at this time due to the unintended effects of a medicine meant to develop human time-leaping ability. The real time that Kazuo actually spent in this age was about a month, and memories about Kazuo were fabrications imprinted by him. However, Kazuo fall in love with Kazuko in the month. Before he returns to the future, Kazuo promises Kazuko that they will meet again someday.

To keep the secret of the time-leap, memories about Kazuo are erased from Kazuko and other people. However, Kazuko has the faint memory of somebody promising to meet her again every time she smells a lavender flower.
