The Lion's Back is a sandstone ridge in Moab, Utah that is very popular among 4x4'ers.

[edit] The Climb

(NOTE: The ridge is on private property and owner claims he doesn't recommend doing the climb, but still charges $10 for the privilege)

First you climb several hundred feet on a 25° - 45° slope, and then do a 9-point turn-around at the top of the rock before slowly descending the way you went up.

Lion's Back is now closed off and is the future site of a condo development.

[edit] The Crash

The hill is known for the crash in which a Chevy K-10 Blazer 4X4 loses its brakes and rolls down the hill, plunging 30 feet to the ground. Nobody was hurt in the crash. The accident was caught on home video and has been featured on TV shows including Real TV, and Maximum Exposure.
