The Linux Router Project

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Linux Router Project (LRP) is an open-source software project. It has been defunct since June 22, 2003, according to a posting by its chief developer, Dave Cinege. For most users, it has been supplanted by its main fork, the LEAF Project.

A search of Google for 'router linux' returns http://www.linuxrouter.org/ as its first result. Clicking on the link takes you to the web servers root directory where you are given an 'interesting' message.

LRP began as a "linux-on-a-floppy" distribution. Using hardware that would be generally considered too old or slow for desktop use, this project allows the creation of powerful router functionality from read-only media that can easily be rebooted should its veracity be in doubt. The original distribution was based on the Debian Linux distribution.
