The Lazarus Heart

The Lazarus Heart is an original novel by Poppy Z. Brite based on the world and thematic concerns of The Crow and published in 1998 by Harper Prism. Like the majority of Brite's fiction, The Lazarus Heart is set in New Orleans.

The book begins with Jared, the main character being resurrected in his coffin, as he digs his way out, he swears to find the man that killed his lover so long ago. After visiting his lover's twin, who had a sex change operation early on, he gets his lead. After several encounters with many people he finally puts it all to rest.
