The John Francis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The John Francis is a San Francisco, California, based singer, guitarist, and songwriter, currently signed to Rerum Novarum Records. The John Francis is the stage name of a single musician, Jack Francis, though his performances and recordings are not always solo efforts — he is often accompanied on drums by Ilk Koskelo and occasionally on bass by Myke Stryker (the two of whom also comprise the rhythm section for We Be the Echo). In addition, many other musicians have contributed to his recordings, including John Vanderslice, Matt Bauer, Jason Kocol, Michael David Murphy and brother Brian Small.
The John Francis is notable for his diverse musical genre influences, which combine to form a melting pot of grunge, country, classic rock and rock opera; his music has been described as Neil Young meets Bauhaus [1].
Francis was previously part of the group Bm Relocation Program, a Bay Area based experimental rock project with Graeme Nicholls, Ilk Koskelo and Myke Stryker of We Be the Echo, and Bert Garibay of The Last Of The Blacksmiths.
